maple syrup

Get it? Because this song is so sappy! Sentimental it may be, it's a beautiful piece with a wintery feel. Landfill is soft and minimalistic with a rather heavy concept; that humans have a frustrating capability to feel strong like and dislike towards one person at the same time, to be pulled towards someone who makes you cringe, to have a heart with the audacity to betray your mind. Humans are silly. Silly humans.

back to basics

It's official. December holiday madness has begun. There is no escaping the scores of glittery, oversized Christmas trees sagging under the weight of gaudy ornaments. No dodging the onslaught of pure crap being dumped into the shopping bags of dazed consumers. And the carols. THE CAROLS. Sweet mother of all that is holy, let's be done with this excess. After all, it's the simple things that give us the warm and fuzzies. Exhibit A: Dr. Dog.

Perfect accompaniment to a night of doing absolutely nothing with those goofballs you call friends.

I know a severed head seems a little bleak for the season, but that riff at the beginning?...meow.

gobble gobble hello chin wobble

Looking forward to a few days with family, a few nights with friends, and pie.
LOTS OF PIE.

easy baby

Wouldn't it be nice to have a job based on competence and intellect rather than one's ability to straddle five different inflated egos? Until that time, I'm trying to stay cool as a cucumber with Wax Tailor.

tuesday bluesday 2.0

Yeah, I stole that title from myself. What of it? Lots of things are "twirling around in my head" lately, making me sleepy and unfocused and a bit spacey. Too many disappointing headlines and too much recycled air to muster inspiration. Good thing my friend Music called me up.

I love how textured this song sounds. "Baby's Arms" from Kurt Vile's latest album.

Also, fun little site that recommends a refreshment for your current tunes. Though they did suggest a PBR for Kurt. Rude.

oh hi hipsters

It's Real, from Real Estate's new album Days, has this young-and-carefree vibe that I've been riding all day. But damn hipsters, calm it down with the dogs. Cat ladies of the world UNITE!

ho hum

Rounding out a week of procrastination and zero focus. Rained all night. Clocks turn back this weekend. Unearthed my impractical fingerless mittens. Winter has arrived.
